Duty Hour Types

Before you can schedule duty hours, you have to set up your Duty Hour Types

If you intend to have your residents enter their duty hours in RP.NET, you will need to set up the Duty Hour Types and make sure that the Duty Hours module is enabled for RP.NET in Program Options. 

The Duty Hour Types follow the ACGME rules for duty hours. If duty hours entered in RP.NET violate the rules, the violations will be displayed.

To set up your duty hour types:

  1. Select the Duty Hours icon on the main toolbar.
  2. Select a resident, then click Open.
  3. In the Manage Resident Duty Hours window, select Edit Types.


  1. Click New.
  2. Next to Hour Type Name, type a name for the new hour type.
  3. Select the options that apply to the hour type. Select Medical Duties, Educational Hours, or Non-Tracked Hours.  Medical Duties can be combined.


  1. If additional hours are permitted for this hour type by your institution, they can be added.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Repeat the previous steps for remaining duty hour types.
